ASU was started in 2002 because there was a need in the agricultural market place for professional, ethical, confidential, diligently analyzed, and quality researched real estate appraisals. Agribusiness professionals today require appraisers to be knowledgeable about their agricultural enterprise. Our goal is simple: We want to provide the highest quality of agricultural real estate appraisal and consulting services available in the Midwest.
Mark Grant, ARA, President of ASU, has 24years of experience in appraising agricultural real estate. He has a Certified General Appraisers license in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Iowa and Ohio. Mark was raised on a Cow-Calf Ranch near Paso Robles, California. He attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California and graduated in December of 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business Management with a concentration in Ag Finance and Appraisal. After college graduation Mark gained experience in agrimanagement with Plantel Nursery of Santa Maria, California, and Head Start Nursery of Gilroy, California, vegetable transplant greenhouse operations. In 1993 Mark moved to Hudson, Wisconsin after accepting a position as an appraiser in River Falls, Wisconsin with Farm Credit Services of Northwest Wisconsin. Mark received extensive training and education in the appraisal field at FCS. In March of 1999 Mark accepted an appraiser position with AgStar Financial Services, ACA of Mankato, Minnesota. The specialty of this position was in chattel and real estate appraisals. Finally, in 2002 Mark started ASU and over time built the company into the full-service agricultural appraisal firm that it is today.
